I love flawed characters, ofc, they make for such interesting reads that I can't help but feel positively about the crazy dynamic of the hero party. The relationship work is crazy, I love when people are willing to do evil shit just because they care too much & they don't know how to have a basic conversation LMFAOO
That aside. I'm a fiend for childcare genre -- this fell flat for me on that front? I can't explain it very well, but somehow the relationship between dad and daughter felt lackluster. I had a lot of moments where it felt like Rabi was an afterthought, or an accessory, instead of a daughter. I like Douglas as a character, he is a typical bleeding heart with a tenacity made of mythril, except his daughter sometimes feels like a prop instead of a character? Maybe I just wasn't paying enough attention to her.
