If you’re not familiar with the enslavement of black people in United States history then you really shouldn’t be commenting. It’s not something that should be written into a romance story between former slave and slave owner in any circumstance.
Like seriously do you believe forcing someone to spend their entire life working without paying and being abused is suddenly okay because they agreed to free them and maybe offer some compensation? This is inspired from the suffering of real people it does not matter if the character are real

Your I understand where you're coming from but I feel like you need a bit of context over why people are upset with this the reason that people are upset with this is because it is set up in a very difficult and horrible time during American history, especially with in native Americans and African Americans. When it comes to the part where the MC gives money to the slaves. It gives a persona of a white saviour and that's why a lot of people got rubbed off the wrong way and the fact that the story is also set in a timeline where the horrible mistreatment within African Americans and native Americans were still very prominent is very sensitive to most. Even when the confederates lost the war, racism was never fully abolished and they were still a huge amount of mistreatment within people of colour. And slavery hasn't been fully abolished because people who fought in the Confederate side they were still slowly transitioning into the unions. It took a very long time until the rules within the union side got slowly put into practise.

Are you serious? You don’t see how glorifying a white slave owner for freeing their slaves is racist? Or how writing a romance story between a slave ( who was enslaved in the basis of race alone) and a slave owner who forced them to work without pay (on the basis of race alone) is racist? Slavery of black people was a real event and writing some slavery fetish story is insensitive to black people in real life! The story doesn’t have to explicitly show the character being racist for it to be racist.

I have read it but I don’t feel any racism in it ?? Sure the setting was in that time of line but what was so racist ? Saying that he is his humble slave?? I mean he is owned by him, we can so far see that main character is quite humble with them maybe main lead knows him from the past and was being frank about him ??? And the setting seems to be after war and main character let them go and even offered money which he can telll he won’t do any harm to them maybe the story wouldn’t continue with that sensitive topic.
It is a fictional story when the character and plot is not following a certain character isn’t it ??!! I m so confused why is it getting cancelled when there is more disturbing being discussed in this community. Just bc she/he had a successful story before doesn’t mean we should drag it down without seeing any further episodes. They had put so many work.
