Nah, I think you're overlooking it because the author played the assault off with comedic reactions afterward. They tried to smooth things over with Rian as if it was just "one of those things," but that doesn't really make it any better. Whether it was written nine years ago or today, it's still not okay.
That said, even other stories in the same genre with questionable smut usually have a strong enough plot to keep me invested. Here, though, I'm barely holding on because the storyline feels weak and doesn't really stimulate me. At this point, the only thing keeping me reading is the hope that Rian eventually humbles Loren... and maybe even tops him.
