Also i relate so much. i love isekai/romance stories but a lot of them are just copy and paste i want characters with actual personalities n shit. and real chemistry. Not just slobbering over each other cus “ooo pretty”

Sometimes I wonder how different these characters lives would be if they just let go of their obsessions to live peacefully fuck, if i was her id say fuck everyone and steal some money to live in another land peacefully they can deal with their political BS, have babies or whatever…

If you could have written some of the characters in forgotten field, how do you think you would have changed their personalities? I know you mentioned some of them are defined by their trauma. I definitely think it would be more interesting to see them beyond it as well, but it’s hard for me to picture what they’d look like (with all the crap they’ve been through)

Hm hard to say, I think I would’ve kept the mc the same but instead left her more room for growth. For example, I would’ve make the ml more playful and I guess what you would call a golden retriever ml? So someone who clashes with her personality. But he would help her get out of this state of suffering and help her find happiness. I would remove a lot of the unnecessary drama and stress from the story, the writing is a little messy and I find has too much random plot devices and at one point, it gets confusing & repetitive. I think you can make a story angsty without it necessarily having to be just constant suffering, there should also be times of warmth.

I wouldn’t change the side characters too much but if it was up to me I would’ve removed the step brother from the story, again he causes a lot of damage that’s just unnecessary. I would write the sister to be more caring and fend for the mc, so later even if they weren’t on good terms in the beginning they can be closer and mc actually has someone who cares for her.

I genuinely wanted to have a healed ML for her. I also thought a puppy ml would’ve been much, much, much better. I legit dropped it after seeing the spoilers too. So this is just me talking about the isekai romance plot in general. Sometimes the world is too cruel for FL and we have to “accept” the ML’s past choices, which hurts the FL. I’m really tired of that trope. Just give her someone new at this point (〜￣△￣)〜 as cliché as it may be, if the ML’s past choices were to “protect” her, I might still accept it. Unfortunately, sometimes MLs get blinded with the thought of protecting her, not realizing the dire situation she’s in or other dangers that she had to go through. Now, that’s really frustrating. That’s why I kinda stay away from romance isekais. Now I’m back with modern romance or just no romance at all lol. So..idk if you have read these or not..

Oh, this one has me in tears. Not isekai, but reincarnation from a medieval magic world to a modern world. Mc still got a companion from their past life so they can use magic in the modern world. Sad actually :(

I think this one is kinda fresh. Male mc, isekai, still wholesome, found family. Not sure if it’s your cup of tea, but I find this quite healing :)

Ngl, I’ve been reading stories with child mc (like literal child) nowadays, so I couldn’t give you more. I’m just tired of seeing frustrating Mls. Can we bring back green forest, healed ml or no trauma ml lol. Sometimes the contrast is very much needed.
