Haga is spitting facts though. Inconsiderate, apathetic and indifferent people are, in fact, all around us and nothing special - we live in increasingly highly individualistic societies. It's rare to see someone who truly cares about someone or something, and wants to connect (with) people. So many try to be non chalant or just live for themselves, undisturbed, ignoring the harassed girl on the bus or the elderly who can't get get off it. When it truly comes down to it, manye are apathetic to others' suffering or abuse in general, more than they want to admit. Civil courage often fails, is what I see as someone who commutes a lot. That was a good point and also decent social commentary from the author right there.
