“Age gap”, “toxic ml”, “love triangle” yaoi … this story is about different paths to success. The teacher is written this way to serve the plot, not to let you vicariously experience a toxic romance through the MC.
Naeun’s talent (and arrogance ) is the result of her parents’ wealth, encouragement and connections.
Youngjo relies on his charms, looks, body, and dirty tricks to get ahead.
The only thing Garam has is no luxury to fail. This was the reality for many living Greats across different fields, who had to lift their families out of poverty in the only available way or were trapped in exploiting contracts.

Since Garam was the only student with no parental $upport, the teacher got him in to add more pressure. I assume that he himself followed the same path, knows it is the most effective way and wants to prove this to others.

Exactly. The story doesn't end either once the mc and the professor gets together. Majority of the narrative is about Garam’s growth as a musician and his journey of finding his place in that world.
