At first I thought maybe he was thinking about the possibilities of geumryang and taesun meeting in next life or trying to find a way to do so. Cause we always saw fox and na-in's interactions as one sided and he never ever have talked about his own self or anything. The story has been going on for long time but his relation or reactions with na-in hasn't changed a bit. If he was actually waiting for someone and that person is na-in then being a god shouldn't he have sensed something after being so long time with na-in. Maybe now we will get something from this two or maybe this was all about guemryang.

If that person is really Nain, then why did the author make their story one-sided? Why is Nain's love so much stronger?
