I hope the father genuinely reflects on his bad character and thinking, changes his ways, and makes a sincere effort to repent and make right the harm he's done, and after a difficult period, they reconcile and come to love each other as father and son in a way that won't be the same but is truly healed, if scarred. That would be best, and some good writing that would show real depth of character for everyone.
In lieu of that, just fucking kill him.
I have same sentiments. Even the emperor also reflects that the empires way of thinking for non elemental gift should be changed. Were already past the denial stage of his father about him being amazing so I hope that there will be a character development.
