The premise of these stories is somewhat realistic because a guy who says good riddance when his wife loses the baby should not be trusted to love and cherish the next one. I do not even blame her for wanting to run away. I just find the whole thing silly with her "running away" and him catching her 0.00001 seconds later.
But kudos to the author for 2 things: 1- not making the husband go nuts and think she is cheating even though he is supposed to know her well (yeah he said it out loud but clearly never believed it) and 2- making ML'S parents not cartoonishly evil in the way they treat her. They don't like her obviously but they have a reason in this setting because for all they know she is a fake gold digger who is playing ML. Don't get me wrong, they aren't great people by any stretch of the imagination, but they are not evil either especially ML's stepmother.
But I will deduct a point for that stupid scene where the bitch pushed MC down the stairs for 2 reasons: shit is cliché AF and also why didn't ML beat the shit out of her for attempted murder??
