Because then it starts to read like an “everyone is bisexual” AU fanfic. If we’re following 5 characters closely, the likelihood of two of them both being bisexuals who sleep with other people for gain (in Korea, mind you) is extremely unlikely. That kills the realism. I’m saying that there should be more variety to reflect real life. It not only makes it more real but more interesting as well. It’s interesting if the professor gets into a relationship with garam because of some sort of emotional catalyst— not simply because “oh it’s no big deal because I’m bi.” We already have a character like that. The professor would just be an old version of that character. That’s boring and kills the realism.

The unnie’s part of the story reminded me of something one of my film professors said— he said that by the end of all the classes, “you will never enjoy another movie again. All you will ever think about when watching them will be the mechanics, what happens behind the scenes.” And he was right.
I think that in order to become a “gem” you have to shed away layers of yourself. The unnie became a great musician, but the training (abuse) Kim made her endure now has her relying on medication. Was it worth it? It depends on who you ask in the story, you’d get different answers.
I’m curious how the professor is going to get with garam. I hope the author comes up with a better way than making everyone is bisexual, that kills the realism
