hate it when systemic problems of imperial/monarchal societies are individualised into the fault of a single ‘evil’ regent or ‘bad’ ruling party so all dehumanisation problems can be resolved by placing the correct person in power as if systems of hierarchies are not inherently built on exploitation and oppression. its banging on a wall whether the wall is brick cause they dont want to see you or glass where they do

The reason why corruption occurs is because the wrong type of individuals are in power. So yeah, if the right kind of person or people are put into positions of control/authority they can fix issues within the system. (Because they’ll strive to remove and implant things for the benefit of society.)

The only problem is that it’s very difficult to find people like that. Most human beings, whether they are rich or poor, have a very bad tendency of being greedy as hell. And when you have individuals who only care for themselves at the highest level, then obviously those at the lowest will suffer gruesomely.

i dont subscribe to the assumption that humans generally have a tendency to be greedy as hell. i believe that on a case to case basis greed is a very human thing to experience for sure. but on a societal level greed like billions in capital being accrued by a single individual or families owning corporations with the kind of capital that can lobby politicians to bomb other countries to subsume their agricultural sovereignty (because they are taxed less than those making under minimum wage) is a systemic problem. societies functioning on a capitalist model will always produce and enable greedy as hell people because politics is built on assumptions and capitalism will always assume that all people are greedy and will always teach people to assume each other as greedy. and yes people whose politics are fundamentally anti capitalist will certainly work to the benefit of the public good. but a system of which the sole purpose is to enrich the 1% will fight to undo this change at literally every turn. that is why roe v wade was overturned because the suffering of all pregnant people to force the birth of a future workforce is a capitalist agenda. you see the system as this structure that is immovable and unchanging but the structure was implemented to do one thing (hoard resources) and no matter how the cogs (leaders in charge / party members etc) change to enable or disable the structure’s ability to do that one thing, ultimately the structure can only do that one thing. people can learn and change. the structure of capitalism cannot. good things produced within capitalism are aberrants not the goal. so you can put even jesus love your neighbours christ on the presidential seat and he would still end up on the cross.
