well after grayson purposefully poisoned koi when he was a child (he poisoned koi’s food because he didn’t believe that koi doesn’t have any sense of smell or taste, which he doesn’t), and then stood watching and doing nothing when koi obviously had a reaction and ashley arrived right at that moment when koi was laying on the ground having the bad reaction, he realised he needed to keep koi separate from grayson for his own safety, lest anything like that happen again, especially because koi forgave grayson for what he did and said he was just curious and didn’t mean any harm, because koi is way too soft and naive for his own good and safety, especially towards his and ashley’s children
