you reading it too and that’s your conclusion? idk about you. for me he is the best character growth and development on miller story. the fact his father ashley said he have the same trait as his grandfather dominic miller yet he still let go of dane because he know the obsession with dane will make him kill dane. he literally went break up for both of their sake its literally amazing with how much growth he has in those story.

are you somehow read with your eyes close? he broke up with dane after that he literally apologise to all of the people he hurt includes chase even. he can literally ignore all the people he hurt but he choose to apologise, its a huge step for character like him.

Why are you throwing an insult? Did I insult you? No. I just expressed my opinion, respectfully. So why do you feel the need to be demeaning with a stranger on the internet? Maybe you should do some self reflection.

It only relates to Dane tho. He’s still a psychopath, only his behavioural model becomes “What would Dane do? Would Dane like it if I did this or not?” (That’s pretty much word-for-word his thought process in the book.) The author can dress it up as wholesome growth all they want, but that’s not development, that’s seeking tacit approval and validation.

And separating himself from Dane for Dane’s safety isn’t the selfless act it seems on the surface. Who’d want to see the love of their life dead? Ultimately, Dane being safe is a source of relief and contentment for Grayson. At worst, it’s psychological self-preservation, at best, it’s Grayson learning to manage himself for once, which, if you want to ascribe a label to, is him becoming more responsible (bare minimum for a man his age).

And I don’t really care for him apologising to others. The author putting that sequence at the height of Grayson’s emotional “tenderness” let’s say (when he separates himself from Dane), negates its significance. Awh, so he’s feeling sad for the first time and suddenly realises that other people can feel that sadness too?

And again, apologising for causing LITERAL, ACTUAL trauma??? Putting that at the height of the sympathy-for-Grayson arc is just the author’s way of obscuring how Grayson saying sorry is the. absolute. bare. minimum. Even a toddler knows to apologise for hurting someone.

So yeah, maybe let’s not celebrate a character for doing the most basic things a human could do.

No, in that story the others always let Dane take the risk and stay in savety cheering him on.-_-
