It's not about the best option, it's about being able to talk about menstruation and remove the taboo about it. Also, I have severe skin condition and I can only use tampons not pads, so you should know that your opinion isn't a universal truth and it depends on everyone's medical condition or preference (I'm saying it to make you aware, not to be polemic!)
Ahh that's very true, thanks for letting me know. It just kinda came off like the author only acknowledged tampons because they personally use them and it felt inconsiderate. I dropped it so I don't know if the options broadened and she did mention a pad of sorts, but yeah I shouldn't have disregarded people who are reliant on tampons, my bad.

As someone who doesn't use tampons it's making me cringe that they're so dedicated in making them. Finding something that works better as a pad would make much more sense for that time period. So many things can go wrong with a tampon and for young girls and people with medical conditions tampons are basically impossible without causing yourself pain. Pads are the much safer option by a mile.
