The title seems to be a play on the title of Hate Mate which is another work by the author. It was also hilarious, devastating, beautiful, and dealt specifically with young unrequited love. I’ve also read most of the other stuff the author has written and the author writes beautiful nuanced stories, they are not typical and their comedic timing is impeccable, let’s see where this goes!!!!
