what is the near death experience? was it the dog rescue? if thats it, he didnt really forgive or thought there wasn't anything to forgive. He literally said, " it's your life. Live how you want it to be", when grayson expected a scolding.
nah i think it's about him almost getting shot by the dad coz grayson have his position out by saying 'u can't come out yet'. he only survived coz the dad missed the shot

if it's that, I felt the artist made dane looked empathetic, but honestly in the novel, it only sounded like dane was curious, baffled and angry about grayson's actions. He didn't touch him in the arm and didn't look like he pitied him in the novel
Dane's capacity for empathy is unbelievable. Knowing his tragic childhood and seeing how he forgives Grayson after a near-death experience makes me love him so much.
