i’m oversimplifying and will be spoiling quite a lot here but ashley (the alpha) basically had the mindset that every dominant alpha is a psychopath as in they don’t process emotions like normal people and that by definition because of the pheromones, he deems them as monsters (including himself).
grayson and his twin was born already fully manifested as a dominant alpha, his eyes were already purple when koi (the omega) popped them out. since he was born fully manifested, it’s by default that he doesn’t understand emotions —there’s a scene later on where ashley told dane (again don’t quote me on this i can’t remember if it was in lmuiyc or dmiyc, it’s been years since i read the novel) that he even had to teach grayson what emotions look like, i.e facial expressions and how grayson would try to mimic them.
that’s why in the earlier chapters where the chief gets real creeped out by grayson is because of this, he doesn’t emulate the emotions, he acts and mimics them, the smile, the gestures, everything.
and in lmuiyc, the story abt ash and koi, there was an accident that grayson and stacy(his twin) had caused which lead to ashley distancing the kids from koi and eventually himself, because in a way it was sort of proving his own beliefs that dominant alphas aren’t human enough.
there’s more to this but i can’t think of it right now so if there’s any questions feel free to ask!
Here is my short explanation: A dominant alpha (Ashley) and dominant omega (Koi) having kids with very strong genes that make them either manifest very early or since birth. As the early manifestation stops their emotional development, most of the kids end up as psychopathic or having anger issue. After failure from therapy and since neither parents are experienced in raising non normal kids, the alpha dad uses strict disciplinary method (not physical hitting) and has mentors teach them how to read social cues and behave in certain situations. He also keep the omega dad away from them to avoid them doing crazy shit or getting too used to his pheromone. This address the issues of their children in the surface but not the root and they end up as society menaces one way or another.
If Koi loves his children how could he be okay with Ash taking the kids away? Don't the kid resent him? I don't see how u can maintain a relationship wth ur children after all that. Was Ash's theory about them being psychopaths true or did he just f/ed them up by believing that they can't comprehend emotions? I have so many questions
Ashly separated Koi from their children not only because of the accident that almost killed Koi, but also because Ashly is also a psychopath, he wants Koi all to himself—he's even jealous of his own children and with just one word from Ashly, Koi would immediately follow it, they were that obsessed with each other.

Ok someone needs to explain to me how the parents were such bad parents when they seem to love each other and their kids so much. Like, what were the parents' insane reasoning? (I'm actually starting to understand how Grayson sees the world after this chapter)
