Yeah, I also thought the same, they never went out to look for supplies or had to face on other groups for supplies. The hounds are bastards, but it's also true they are the ones keeping the town safe and supplied.
And the story has yet to show more details of this apocalypse, they say the undead are not as aggressive as zombies, so that would make them much easier to deal with than a real zombie apocalypse, in that case, were them only part of the cause, what else was there to make the world fall apart?

i think the thing that will continuously
nag me about the storyline so far… is that they’re in an apocalypse… and for the most part its citizens are in a secluded safe haven. but they think they can overthrow those with that much physical power? and then do what? how would they protect themselves in the aftermath from others seeking out the same safe haven?
and even more so, the MC (as stupid and an unreliable narrator as he is), thinks he can “fool” him or be in any way effective in his and the hounds downfall? when he freaks out from one question and absolutely fumbles the most important lie he needs to maintain…
