I generally hate Omegaverse except for a couple, but I read this one because of this author and I am grateful they didn't disappoint. Keep the side stories coming author (kisses). I love how the author subverted the alpha/omega dynamic by making the dominant alpha a caregiver and the omega a provider. Not like it hasn't been done before in yaoi but the difference is treatment and writing chops. The author establishes the characters adroitly, keeps the character development consistently seamless and not jerky like most yaoi webtoon authors. I think they could have done a better job with the omega's character, he reads a bit too indifferent. It's one thing to have an introverted personality but there are nuances to it when they get involved in intensely intimate relationships, the uke reads kinda spectrum coded but he isn't in the story, so his character feels a bit off, even the way he told the MC about his past felt way too distanced and robotic.
However I really liked the way seme was written, despite his faux pas that made the uke lose the match. The cadences of his emotional development felt natural and convincing. He is also not ambitious, another subversion of the dominant alpha archetype. And i welcome it, ambition is way too overrated.
It's a simple story too, nothing too complicated about it but the author was talented enough to make it read engaging still. They kept it light and simple, and didn't unnecessarily pick edgy/heavy themes just to make a mockery of it like most BL authors. I wish other writers could also learn how to write a simple story with your usual bl tropes but give it fresh, individual treatment so they dont all read the same copy paste slop.
Also the art is good, loved the artist's style of linework, so rounded and curvy and bouncy and grabworthy lol. The uke's and seme's bodies look healthy and toned without being overly muscular and stocky, like in most BLs, the body to head proportions are also on point. Dialogues are simple and brief but effective. Baby is cute. Side characters come across as funny even with brief panel space.
Author you keep writing, you hear me? There are so few good writers in the genre.
