I’ve always thought the opposite, but more in the broader terms of female couples or male. I think I’ve always observed more disgust towards gay men than lesbians when it comes to homophobes. Since so much is dictated by the patriarchy and so many men like to watch things concerning two women I think it’s more normalized. Whereas they see two men and are disgusted simply because it’s not what they’re attracted to. Double standards
honestly kinda hate bl being my main my low attention span cant stick to gl unless its yuri most works i come across fall under these
-onesided bullied
-power imbalance forced
-oneside sexual harassment borderline yuri but we are girls here. who like being touchy feely

- doomed yuri
the actual onees. with good yuri and gl th3 hidden gems are. hard. to find so i switch back to bl quick
You see, men simply sexualise lesbian relationships. They still do not support them, they just get off on the thought of them. Whereas patriarchy tries to dictate it as "women cannot survive happy without a man at their side", which is why most of the GL works are made doomed or toxic. There is far more BL than GL, too, since plenty straight women fawn over the thought of two men being together. Lesbian couples are always overshadowed by gay ones in media. For example, look at this site. GL works are rarely updated and added, whereas BL works are constantly pouring out. I do not deny the fact that gay relationships are also fetishised by straight women, but more often than not, BL works garner more positive attention than GL ones.
Yes that’s the problem! GL works are extremely hard to find since people mostly ignore them, thus they cannot gain fans and are quickly cancelled. The fact that you can’t find anything good isn’t your fault, it’s the fault of the structure of our society and patriarchal views, as I explained in a different reply. It’s either sexualised, doomed or toxic stuff.
Hmm if we’re talking about stereotypes of GL having more toxic endings would it correlate to the number of men who write them? I admit I don’t know the statistics of male to female writers in GL but it makes sense that if men predominantly write them they would even subconsciously/or on purpose add those themes almost as a sabotage while fulfilling their fetish. Maybe it’s also because there’s so many female BL writers that they can often contain more positive or fulfilling endings? But it could also be because women in general are more predisposed than men to be accepting of the lgbtq+ community that BL (which are primarily consumed by women) receive more positive attention. In my personal opinion I think the female population is more forward thinking so I based it on that.
Tbh I think most BL fans who don't read GL simply aren't interested in GL rather than dislike it outright. I've even come across lesbians who say they prefer BL
Fandom culture and anything that is considered catered to women, typically centers around romantic relationships with men. That's why het and BL are more popular than GL. Most people who write romance are in this market.

Thinking about the fact that the popularity of BL and the dislike of GL is rooted in patriarchy, since most people cannot imagine a relationship without a man involved
