This was so great on many levels

I like to see an omegaverse story that realistically touches on the societal and systematic issues of alphas abusing omegas and how the alphas themselves are actually the weaker ones by not having any self control around omegas who can't help their pheromones and heats to a greater extent (victim blaming culture of omegaverse societies). The fact that the burden of protection is placed on omegas, having to repress their own sexuality instead of alphas making sure they regularly carry and take rut suppressors truly draws a parallel line to how female sexuality and shaming happens while men rape, impregnate and kill women and girls all over the world, and primarily women are expected to ensure contraception even in consensual situations.
Alphas, just like how men irl are presented as in patriarchy, are said to be better, stronger, more rational, excellent, natural born leaders, but then you just see them quickly succumbing to their instincts, lashing out, abusing omegas left and right, and trusting their success merely because of their gender, but then at the same time, devaluing omegas for their same gender variation. What happened to the MC is infuriating because he truly is a capable person first and foremost, not a gender, and was a promising police officer who was sabotaged due to the sheer sexist hatred of alphas raised with the mentality of essentialist excellence. The real life parallels couldn't be any clearer...

The more I love to see an alpha who despises this sexism and sees his omega partner for his skill set and wants to partner with him eye to eye. It goes to show that change is possible and it has to start somewhere. It starts with an alpha and an omega working together as equals. It's also interesting to see a pairing that happened as a work contract first, and one that is supposed to stabilize the omega and benefit him. The more exciting it was to see that professional boundary be crossed in a good way, for them to turn into lovers as well. Great story, I just wished it was longer!
