So... old man acknowledged that her brother got hurt due to dogs so decides to rope her in and then keep roping her in with out care? Besides she could just preemptively forget her stake since it's basically hers any. There is no reason to stick it for 2 years as the will it self declares her the owner and as a widow. Laws don't fight so much with folks willing to forfeit their inherentance
