actually...idk what's going on w the new season but it's so bland compared to the previous one (which made me pick up the novel btw which is fucking fire) they've trashed the gaymance and even the emotional scenes feels so childish

Yeah, I have no idea why, but they seem to have tuned to Hyunjae's moments in favor of humor...it makes no sense because like if they read the novel they KNOW how prominent his relationship progression with Yoojin is, regardless of romance. In the novel, the birthday arc felt like they were progressing somewhere; here, they don't feel any different, even with the contact name changing.
Genuinely, why the hell are you cutting off Hyunjae + Yoojin moments in an arc that's supposed to be ABOUT THEIR RELATIONSHIP CHANGING. It actually infuriates me.
I love the birthday arc but they cut my favorite scene where I believe both Hyunjae and Yoojin are on the beach and Yoojin looks at Hyunjae wet and pulled-down hair and thinks he looks so human for the first time </3
