as an international relations student, reading this was a pain in the ass because it kept on reminding me about how the brits colonized a lot of countries so squeezing the romance in while trying to temporarily remove everything that i have studied was hard. but tbh this was a very good read, specially w the progression of how Madelyn became independent. notably, i was laughing during the boat scene that portrayed America as the land of opportunities cause these motherfuckers would not believe us if we say that the USA rn is detaining immigrants. i'm glad that it was a bit historically accurate and focused also on the conflict of ideologies. the ending was good too cause that meant both of em died during WW2 ahahahahaha like holy shit.
