I’m enjoying it but you’re not wrong about any of that. It’s definitely not living up to its potential.
That’s exactly what I was thinking. It has so much potential but it’s way too clunky

I like the story and all but I feel like its a lot of telling instead of showing. like the ML narrates his back in one flash-back as tells you exactly why he acts the way he acts. it's just kind of jarring and makes him feel like a character instead of a person in the story. you can communicate his psyche by guiding readers to come to the conclusion on their own.
