I’m going to try and remember everything (someone can jump in and correct or add on) but basically wooyeon isn’t very close with his mom so his mom hired people to keep tabs on him, and dohyun was one of them. When their relationship progresses, the secret eventually spills and wooyeon felt hurt and betrayed. He thought that their love wasn’t real and that led to a breakup (or just time apart I can’t really remember because they made up…quick?) I think that’s when people pointed fingers at dohyun and called him a manipulator because he did sort of feel cold and distant throughout the novel
