I feel like he's very attached to the mc, especially knowing he likes him but never really made a fuss about it, so he was comfortable because of that. That makes him self centered because he knows he LIKES him, and is sure about it so he trust that he'll like him even with the situation their in. The craziest part is, even knowing he likes the ml he doesn't want to commit because he knows being in a deep relationship may lead to something troublesome and he doesn't want to lose the mc. But come on, this is much crazier than dating your friend smh. That being oblivious of the feelings of dejection from the mc is already the start of him loosing his friend, istg.
