Honestly, I'm surprised this is rated so high. Apart from their initial rival dynamic as they studied together at the academy of MC's father, the story didn't really catch me and I was underwhelmed by everything - from the interactions between the MC and the ML to their development, plot, plot 'twists' that were very obvious, etc. Even their sex scenes were boring. The push and pull, even better, enemies to lovers to enemies (that would've been epic!!!) dynamic that could've been established between the MC and ML after their reunion didn't happen and their connection fell flat. It got boring quickly, there was no more tension, not much at stake. They quickly worked together (how the MC was able to trust the ML who seemingly joined the enemies and believed his plan blindly is beyond understanding...) while the MC would either not fight or just try to sacrifice himself and then just rest at the side lines and meet with the ML to fuck (yawn). We didn't see the skills he learned for those 10 years in isolation in that cave, we barely saw the ML's red eyes and abilities, and the MC got twinkified very quickly especially in his personality and demeanor.
ML's father was somewhat realistic though, he's this typical insecure man who can't accept a woman is just that much better than him, and the way he forged conflict to create political tension ('chaos is a ladder') and even prolonged bloodshed just to maintain that power was plausible and realistic given real life history. Still, dialogues often felt flat, characters felt very one dimensional, and so the plot felt just as hollow.
The ice diva and her personal sword though - THAT would be amazing yuri lol. I loved these two.
