I think the purpose of the mirror and the room being black was to build more fear on the person watching, and with the fear it creates malice against those who put you there. It has most likely been going on since there are other black rooms hence the fact that it would be possessed, and those limbs are from others who had "evaporated." I'm just imagining a sequel with hyun-ju's story of her finding a blackroom and the loneliness she has and the limbs will be the proffessor's and her bullies
