I like both art styles

Idk I don’t care much for the art style change, the story itself is captivating enough for me to not mind it. It didn’t ruin anything at all for me, in fact it just took a little getting used to! I wish they continued with this story, it was a great read.

Did you not notice the change in storytelling as well?? The second artist just butchered the whole thing. ToT. I've read great stories with shit art before, but this is not one of that.

How did it change? What did I miss?

Well, I saw your comment before about liking a scene where the stepfather went "project dear Benjamin". You said it gave you chill. It's that that was missing. New storytelling and panelling doesn't build up tension like that.

The characters interactions lack nuance and sensuality, so it feels cartoonish and lost all the mature vibe. This is especially obvious in sex scenes. The previous artist knew when to keep the scene short or when to go into details. It doesn't feel like yaoi slop thrown in your face because it fits the situation.

The new dialogues feel like just wall of text and less like an interaction. Sometimes, you can show more by leaving out texts too and use panelling, white spaces, or pictures, but new style always goes "tell don't show".

Woah you brought up VERY solid points. I love it. Your way of dissecting the changes and conveying it into words is so easy to digest. You’re skilled at explaining! Thank you!

Honest, I read this so long ago and after finishing it I’ve read many many stories since lol so my memory is hazy. But due to my body remembering how this story made me feel, I’d like to say that I actually don’t think I mind a “tell don’t show” type of manga. I can say this with certainty actually because I have a HUGE problem with the opposite.. yk ones that “show too much and tell too little.”

But also!! The other thing I’d like to note is that the chapters where the art style changed were so little compared to the previous chapters of the older art style. And the majority of the story was nearly complete waaayy up until the climax of the story- if my memory serves me right- that’s when the art style changed; right when they hit the climax. So I sort of treated that part of the story as if it were the last chapter (raiding old man’s mansion to save his “lover”) then every other chapter that followed (the part after they made “love” on the couch in the mansion) as side stories.

So I basically molded the story in my mind to suit the sudden change of the artstyle in a way where it helped me not mind it at all?

I hope you understand me lol geez, I hope dis ain’t confusing!

Oh, ty haha. I was afraid what I said would be confusing too. Glad you understood. And yeah, I see your point now and it's understandable since we all have different taste.

You're right about the portion of the new art vs old art. If they could finish the rescuing plot (before the happy stuff afterwards) then I'd feel the same. Yk main story vibe vs side story vibe, but it was in the middle of the climax which is a pity imo.

Right, the core of the story remains the same, but the dialogues, panelling, and pacing were probably decided by the artist. Those are parts of the storytelling too and it makes or breaks a manga/manhwa imo.
