I literally re-read the manhwa to refresh my memory and catch all the details I missed, and honestly? It’s a non-debatable fact: all three of them are toxic as hell. This is one of those rare manhwas where literally every single character is both a victim and a villain at the same time!
I get so confused when people claim Nanjo is just a victim—like, excuse me? No he’s not. Sure, he got used and played the most, I’m not gonna deny that. But you stop being a victim the second you start accepting what’s handed to you without putting up a fight, especially with zero justification! No matter what anyone says, Nanjo is a whole grown adult. He’s literally six full years older than them! On top of that, he’s a cultured, powerful businessman; if he actually wanted to erase both of them from the face of the earth, he could’ve done it effortlessly. Plus, he’s built! Physically, nobody could force him into anything unless he willingly let them!
Mok-yeon’s threats weren't even that bad, and it’s blind-level obvious he didn't have the power or pure malice to be a legit threat. Nanjo just built this fake villain narrative in his head before even meeting Mok-yeon face-to-face, purely because he refused to confront the fact that the person who tricked him had been cheating from day one! Even when he started seeing who Mok-yeon actually was, he basically ignored the fact that the guy wasn't even bad. He stayed out of guilt and the need to keep a valid excuse to remain attached to Mok-yeon. The only credit I’ll give him is that he finally owned up to his mistakes at the end.
That being said, I am NOT excusing Mok-yeon’s actions AT ALL. There were so many times I wanted to jump into the panel and slap him till he passed out, just to force him to tell the truth from the start! But I will NEVER agree that he deserved to be beaten up that brutally, or that Nanjo got away without even apologizing for laying hands on him like that.
