The manhwa was so short and fast-paced, like every chapter was packed with situations and tropes, but it all moved way too fast almost like it was just giving us bullet points or a quick recap of the story. It was honestly tragic how rushed it felt because the ideas were actually so good. Like, you name it, it’s in there: war, superpowers, romance, trauma, poverty, corruption, a whole military coup... literally everything!
I really wish we got some side stories showing their dynamic after escaping, but with actual depth. I just wanted to know if Garam actually loved Eden, or if he just saw him as his only way out from all the horrors of the world. It broke my heart when he actually tried to kill him! I genuinely thought he’d confess to him and they’d try to figure out a plan together... Even during the trial, I was holding out hope until the very last second that it was all part of their master plan. But nope, turns out he really did try to kill him without Eden knowing, which is just so devastating.
Overall, the manhwa is good, the art is nice, and the plot points are super solid, but the only issue is that it’s WAY too short and way too dark (but at least we got a happily ever after).
Everyone seems to love this manhwa, so I guess I’m the odd one out who got super uncomfortable reading it. Honestly, it made me so sad and I don't even know why!
It’s basically just smut with assault vibes. Even though the bottom is lowkey obsessed with the top and down for whatever, seeing him actually want to stop or just crave a little bit of romance while the top keeps degrading him and tearing him down with his words was so painful to watch.
In other manhwas, when assault happens, there isn't really love involved. But here? The bottom was down-bad for the top for so long, and all he got back was pure cruelty and disrespect. The dialogue wasn't even fun, blush-worthy dirty talk…it was straight-up insulting and foul. It genuinely hurt to read...
I’m glad the tables turned and the bottom managed to make the top completely whipped and dependent on him, giving him a taste of his own medicine. But honestly, deep down, I wished the ending was just the bottom standing up for himself, dumping his ass for good, and letting the top rot in regret over losing someone who truly loved him. I really wanted a true self-respect and abandonment arc instead of just flipping the power dynamic even if that role reversal was kinda satisfying in a way.
Idk, is my period just around the corner making my hormones act up, or is the whole concept actually just really sad?
