As someone who has been reading yaoi since they were eight, there are a few tells for when something is a dream. Firstly, it’ll feel abrupt. When a character has a wet dream (which this obviously isn’t), it’ll feel rather out of place considering the flow of the story. This interaction however, makes perfect sense. Secondly, if a character does something uncharacteristic of them in a dream, there’ll be no explanation— as if a switch flipped. The mc’s actions are explained by his intoxication.
