Oh my goodness you're right, I was about to say probably not because most rofan (this is like more or less a rofan right? A horror one) or just fantasy set in like medieval/renaissance (I don't know my periods) just put the dead in a casket after they die. It's a setting often not elaborated and I always assumed that they did not for Idk plot convenience and it's not generally a big deal if mc resurrects (heavy emphasis on dying then coming back to life), just say you got ressurected by a god and maybe early periods did not know embalming, but they dooo and they only do it for nobility, royals, and high ranking people who do public viewing. Bonus if they need to keep the corpse fresh for travel. Oh ily ヾ(☆▽☆)

Even ancient civilizations have a way to preserve their dead right? And i remember reading that embalming was also practiced in europe? So i just thought it was interesting that embalming wasn't brought up or something.
But i guess since some asian countries practice cremation instead, and i read it wasn't necessary to do embalming for cremation, so maybe that's why it wasn't mentioned here

i was thinking along those lines too. since cremation is the standard and until recently the only way they dealt with the dead, it would make sense that their knowledge of european funeral rites are surface level, especially since they have a tendency to write their european fantssy world as way less advanced in many ways as medieval europe was
I'm only on chapter 1 and i like it so far!
I read the first few pages and immediately thought "oh they don't embalm their dead?"
Because it's one thing to fear someone coming back to life because "hey maybe the doctor just misdiagnosed?" And it's a very different kind of fear to see someone getting revived, but they've already been embalmed.
Like imagine getting the body embalmed, and suddenly she just wakes up. No organs and blood and all. Full of chemicals too.
So anyway, these were just some first impressions and thoughts.
