Her mom is actually twin's aunt. There were two sisters, both now dead, one - the late Duchess and her sister, who became pregnant with MC. MC is also Rabienne's half sister (dad).

The mother is dead; they found her body in the slums. From what we saw last chapter, I think the evil Duke kidnapped the mom, sa'd her and got her pregnant, she fled and wound up lost in t he slums while her husband was in the war, died after giving birth to Esther.

No if I remember well she was the gérant of a teahouse and seduced Brions duke trying to threaten him with her pregnancy but he sent her assassin she stay alive just to give birth to Esther....
That would’ve been a great part of the story. I wish the author did this before finishing the story. That would’ve been such a cool twist.

Feels like the twins mother is still alive and living in the slum somewhere, and a possibility that she’s also MC mum. And also feels like the mum is related to the Saintess bloodline, in turn making MC a direct descendant. Since they never said how she actually died…
