Guys, chill, they skip a lot of Josh’s internal dialogue but he doesn’t tell Chase that Pete is his kid until after they meet because he wants to see if they’re compatible/if Chase can handle it. Remember, Chase pistol whipped Josh at the beginning of the story, brutally maimed another character (in the novel), and just tried to kill himself here- he’s not exactly the pinnacle of mental stability you’d want around a small child
