I'm personally more complex than a slice of bread I can dislike smth and still read it. That's how I went through school where you had to read literature you didn't like. Granted no one is forcing me to read Borderline, sure, but the ability is still there. Of course I'm still curious how the author would turn around this effed up situation and how believable she can make it. It's like starting a movie, if it's not great halfway through you still watch till the end.

comparing reading fiction to attending school makes no sense, one you do because you enjoy it, and the other is to possibly have a better and more stable life. well, there is no way I could force myself to read something i don't enjoy, if i just wanted to see the ending, i would wait for it to end and check out the last chapter

Sure you can be curious about what's happening in a story but I noticed there are some people who come everytime there's a new update and start bitching even to those who actually like the story.
yeah, i dont get that. i used to force myself to read a story cause i hated leaving things unfinished, but after reading so many snoozefests, i just changed my mindset and now only keep up with ones i actually like or have some interest in. prioritizing my mental health really
