Compton's too consumed by the hatred that he let it affect him and morph him into what he hates while thinking he's better. He has no idea how hard garam worked and what he survived for heejae to soften on him and actually show that he, in fact, does have a soul. No, he doesn't know him better than garam because heejae didn't even know himself before garam.
