This should be called "What Not to Do in BDSM."I genuinely hate how so many authors portray BDSM. Most of what these manhwas show isn't BDSM it's just degradation and abuse disguised as a kink.

An S&M relationship doesn't even have to involve romantic feelings to be healthy. In fact, it can be far healthier than the relationships these stories portray because it's built on communication, trust, consent, and mutual respect.

I've almost never seen a safeword used in these manhwas. A safeword exists so the submissive can stop a scene at any time, giving them control even while they're submitting. It's one of the most basic responsibilities for a dominant to establish before any scene, yet these stories act like it doesn't even exist.

They also never discuss boundaries, rules, negotiation, aftercare, or hard and soft limits. Everyone has limits, and BDSM is about exploring them safely not ignoring them.

Manhwas and mangas have completely distorted how people view BDSM by reducing it to nothing more than toxic smut, while leaving out the core principles that actually define it.
