i really wanted to stick it out, but the story has become a complete mess and lacks coherency. it's not just the 'throw anything at the wall and see what sticks' tactic that has overtaken the second half of the story, but also the way even the character motivations just... don't make sense lol even beyond some of the... weird writing choices (the DOG omfg), the characters themselves lack consistency and seem all over the place. real people don't act like this - and i KNOW that we suspend our disbelief a lot when reading stories like this, but this reaches the point where it's just insane lol i think for me, the moment the mc was more upset his boyfriend was nervous about telling him that the son of the person who MURDERED HIS FAMILY was his friend because "how dare you think im judgmental", was absolutely insane lmao like ???????
anyway, that conversation with the mom and all of the weird, unnecessary details (mom was a victim of... what, rape? and just drops that in front of her kid's boyfriend??? and then tells the kid she married her rapist's brother?????) just turned me off completely lmao. author is a weirdo and clearly needs a better editor to tell them no to some things lmao
