This was so poetic and makes so much sense if you think about it. Rachmaninoff was severely depressed and suffered from anxiety , loneliness, insomnia and fear of death his whole life...Similarly, Kim Heejae, too , suffers from severe anxiety and fear of abandonment. As Claren said Rachmaninoff probably suits Heejae the best. People see Rachmaninoff's music as a personification of Heejae , as we saw that Walter couldn't even listen to Rachmaninoff because it reminded him of Heejae... But Garam on the other hand thinks of Heejae as Chopin's romantic, nostalgic , yearning, elegant kind of love that makes even tragedy sound beautiful. For him Chopin is Heejae , a broken yet beautiful person , whose soul only Garam understands. Garam's interpretation of Rachmaninoff is probably him accepting even the cruel side of Heejae. As Garam said , he would probably not be able to forget the hurtful side of Heejae in past and his anxiety if Heejae loves him or only his music , but by accepting Rachmaninoff he is ready to accept the cruel side of Heejae which stems from his own past , loneliness, fears , rage and anxiety because nobody understands Heejae's soul more than him...
In short Garam basically doesn't give a fuck , he likes it rough and painful ...
