It has been some time since I read this novel, I didn't read the whole thing because the website got doxxed but this is what I remember.

Our mc was handling a rape and a murder case when he just started working as a cop. And this driver was the main culprit, there was evidence too but as his dad is a bigshot and has judges under his wing the case was rejected and this guy was deemed as not guilty. Also from what I remember even the mother of the girl was killed or she committed suicide and only her dad was alive who later on dies too and mc believes that this driver and his dad has a part to play in all deaths.

you mean the innocent girl who almost got ran over had her mother killed???

No I think they mean the girl the car man raped and killed back when MC first started as a cop. Car guy got away with it and then the victim's mom died

The manhwa doesnt follow the novel but the artist improvises it into one arc instead so it will be hard to explain without making it confusing but I will try. Also, please remember it night not appear in the manhwa because of how the artist rewrite it.

MC handled a rape case and that guy was the main culprit. The case which had enough evidences to bring justice to the victim but the culprit’s father is a politician so of course, with the power he had, the case was closed with him found not guilty as well as putting the blame on the victim. Later she unalive herself. MC only found out later from the victim’s father that his wife was killed by a hit and run while protesting in front of the politician’s house(if I remember correctly) while everyone believed it was just an unfortunate accident, the father knew it wasn’t and it was planned by the culprit or his father. Victim’s father harshly blamed MC for everything especially for being unable to bring his daughter the justice that he promised.

MC drown himself in alcohol after that and went to the bar where rapist usually went to confront him but again, he got slapped by the reality that he, a mere detective, can’t do anything to him, a son of a powerful politician. When coming out, MC met ML again and was asked “who made him cry(because MC’s eyes were all red like he would broke down at any moment). That was when ML help MC on his own, by exposing the video of the rapist and it was spread all over the news. The headline [The internet is in chaos right now. A shockin g video was uploaded early this morning, sho wing a talent agency CEO violently assaulting an employee. As you can see, he drags the p erson around like an animal and stomps on th eir head with his shoe. It's horrifying.]
The rapist came to see MC at the police station with rage thinking he was the one who released the video then leaving some threats.
MC soon received a devastated news about the victim’s father’s death which was said self unalive. MC knew everything wasn’t right because the father just called him a few days ago about a reporter contacting him to tell them about his daughter’s story after the video went viral, so how could he unalive himself after the phone call with him? He caught on real quick that it was the rapist’s doing because he also came to see MC and warned him that he would regret what he did thinking MC was the one who exposed the video of him. However MC didn’t have any evidence so he couldn’t catch the rapist of take him to the police for questioning. At the funeral that was held by him and other detectives, the rapist came with a group of reporters surrounded him and said he wanted to pay respects to the dead with his “you know he can’t touch me” face, and MC couldn’t do anything but to hold his anger in and keeping kicking the rapist out.
ML came to rescue him when he was deep in pain again. He complained about mc’s sister hitting him and now his face was all bruised. After all of that lighthearted jokes, mc went back to his rock bottom and told ml what he felt that rapist came to the funeral home. He wanted to just drop his title as a detective and smashed his head but he couldn’t do it. He said along the line of “I wanted to become a police so that I could catch bad guys but all the bad guys I caught were someone who don’t have any penny while those with power can do anything they want without facing consequences” ML asked if he wanted him to kill that rapist and MC didn’t say anything and told him that he would arrest him. Well, ML went on his way to give what that rapist deserves. What is worse than death? Suffering without recovering

I really love how MC defended ML knowing pretty well that he did it but ML is his baby so there is no way his baby would do that right?
