I didn't want to diss them because I do understand from a certain perspective where they are coming from as someone who also enjoys those types of toxic BLs but I just feel like it's doing those BLs a disservice to put this one in the same category as them All those other BLs have way more to offer than the nothing burger this BL turned out to be
Also MC was literally just laying down on the bed taking it, if he was truly experienced wouldn't he do something? No matter how you look at his body language you would know he has no experience! But oh he's feeling good he must be for the streets!!!
I get people saying that this isn't as toxic as other BLs like roses & champagne, jinx, painter of the night, codename Anastasia, and etc., so people shouldn't dislike this BL or just click off. But I think that comparison doesn't really do it justice because while those BLs are all toxic in compelling ways that examine these unhealthy dynamics between the main couples from an interesting perspective even if they utilize stuff like non-con or blackmail to move the story forward.
On the other hand, this BL suffers from a ML who is petty and vindictive. He meets the guy he supposedly was in love with in MIDDLE SCHOOL, believes a bunch of rumors about him from an ambiguous source, and takes that as a green light to not only rape the MC, but continuously blackmail him, and slut shame him at every opportunity because he can't let go of the fact that the MC may have forgotten about him and/or slept with other people—all of which are things that he's allowed to do btw. Instead of addressing these things, he just continues to do whatever he wants, and his guilt is only surface level and he gets a pass for that because the MC is such a pushover who lets the ML walk all over him since the beginning. The confession feels sloppy and unearned as well. This BL just doesn't grapple with its themes of toxicity in any interesting or particularly novel way, so we just end up with a story that's lackluster about a douchey ML who we are supposed to see as a devoted, loyal victim and a pushover MC who is far too forgiving, so it's no wonder this BL isn't sitting well with so many people because it's so half baked.
Honestly was just left wanting for so much more by the end of it and disappointed that the main pairing wasn't with that class rep, but oh well
