The world tree mentioned something that happened when ancient powers were rampant then suddenly disappeared after a certain "darkness." Comparing it to the latest chapters of the novel, it would be safe to say that the darkness mentioned was the "purge" of ancient powers done by the divine race (?angels). At first I thought the disappearance of ancient powers were due to the war done by the first/ancient white star, but that doesn't seem to be the case. Anyway, that's just a penny of my thoughts ٩(๑❛ᴗ❛๑)۶
