Though prequel might be the wrong word. It's the original story and Brutal is basically whatever happened after the main story in Trace ended. Dan was/is a psychopath lol
Trace was quite niche I think. Most people got to know Dan only when Brutal was published, which contrary to Trace became popular quickly, and got a complete wrong picture about what kind of person he is lmao
My advice, do not spoil yourself by reading Trace. Dan is so ugly there. Just enjoy Brutal
I always wrote Brutal without realizing that we are in the comment section of Doom which is the continuation of Brutal by another artist.
