No I believe he's a mix and since Sullivan, a white man is existing at that time so it won't be so surprising to see a black man (I think beoms' and his brothers father is the same)existing also the op needs to understand it wasn't supposed to be a racism claim by describing beoms feature that way
And ofc he was treated in a dehumanising way because of his status as a butcher and literally someone who sleeps around which is why Guemho took him in as a geisha (no one should be treated that way which I agreed on) but it was definitely not because of his skin colour

This book is very odd i just started chap.1 and it really gives off the “white savior” trope. I hate how Beom is a black(?) man and yet he’s being treated like an animal. They also make it seem as if the emperor is doing Beom a favor by taking him in and letting him have sex with him. It’s very dehumanizing and weird coming from a black person. I see why people on tiktok be talking shit about this manhwa.
