Y'all don't read this. I clearly hate myself because I didn't drop it even after the prince accused Mia of cheating on him while she was being assaulted. I read far enough to know that the "ruthless prince" doesn't even punish the guy for very long. He makes a big show: "I'll hurt him but I won't finish him off because of Mia's kindness" [SIDEBAR: why the FUCK does Mia plead for this dude???], then they allude to some torture and you know what? The guy goes home and continues abusing his wife and son. Wow.
Everyone in this story has the memory of a goldfish. Pigtails Mcgee comes back chapter after chapter to continue bullying Mia, even after being exposed at every turn. The story alludes to her father pulling some strings to cover it up, but I'm sorry? What nobleman has the power to cover up the abuse of the Crown prince's fucking fiance? Either the imperial family is in debt or the story structure is weak.
I really wanted to like this but it is just too frustrating to read. At least the art is decent. The plot is ass and I hate how Mia's abuse is made to seem comedic at times. Pigtails tries to cut off her legs??? Then she becomes a gag character after?? Do I not get the joke or something? It doesn't work since Mia has been on-screen tormented to the point of having scars and a prosthetic leg.
Maybe it would have worked if the story was about how Mia is too strong to bully despite her miserable status. And maybe if the prince was likeable; he starts off as a tyrant then turns into a bumbling kindhearted ruler without so much as a heads up.
This is really just a whump story. Angst with no end in sight. All hurt no comfort. Read this if you enjoy the idea of a perfect victim who takes all the abuse, and never blames anyone because it's all her own fault for deserving it.
