I always see people call Jo the better option and I ask the simple question of how is he the better option for a man that wasn't all in with him? How is he the better choice when Ian yearned for TJ always and in the end choose TJ and not him? How are you a better option when the subject of your desires doesn't feel the same as you? This delusional take often seems sensible but it's exactly how in everyday life people pick the wrong partners. It's a clear overestimation of one's importance in another's life. The reality of this story is is that Ian was never going to choose Jo. It hurts but all roads led to Ian rejecting Jo. Jo was a wonderful experience but he was never going to be a lifelong choice. Ian chose TJ always for twenty years that wasn't going to change just because Jo wanted him. Jo's love for Ian was never a factor for Ian cz at the end of the day it was always what Ian wanted and not what Jo wanted. I don't know why people fail to understand that. This story wasn't about Ian running away cz if it was he would have run away long before Jo came into the picture but he never actually did cz he never even wanted to run from TJ. He hated tj's attachment to the gang not TJ the person.
This post was prompted by a video I saw about how Ian and Jo were robbed and the writer was like a different person. I think readers ought to take accountability and responsibility for their own biases that inform their understanding of these series. The series has no plot holes you just don't like the story as it actually is.
