which part is confusing specifically? theyre more of a situationship, jaewon had been slowly building up feelings for dojoon until he found the reason haeyul was so into him (and dojoon was involved w him) was bc of the tutor yesung. he feels like a replacement for yesung to haeyul and dojoon, so thats why he says hes never gonna fall for dojoon, except the sadness betrays him, it inadvertently is somewhat of a confession. the whole bird thing is representative of yesung and jaewon (helpless sparrow and preening cockatoo). the whole shoving the sparrow in the cage is analogous to haeyul obsessing over yesung, and its the same “foreign emotion” dojoon now feels towards jaewon

Yeah. Unlike haeyul tho Dojoon doesn't see Jaewon as the guy who died. He only thinks they look the same.
