I don't think he will ever be redeeemed either. He will just become slightly better because the person he wants to be with abhors this version of him. So, he will be kinder to appease the person he is obssessed with. That is all there is to it
How does a man so cruel, suddenly has his concious awakened that he repents the things he did. I don't believe for a second in this redemption arc.
